No dunking, just fundamentals, my ass.

Tonight, THE TALL GIRLS opens at The Alliance Theatre. It’s a coming of age story, it’s a story of hope, it’s a story of passion, it’s a story of history, and it’s a story to which our country finally found a different ending… allowing the picture below to be a possibility for young girls and professional female athletes. I took for granted growing up what this meant. Maybe we all did and do.  (I’m number 45. I was also like, 4th string. 🙂  Incidentally, #s 22, 23, and 40 were the best in the state of Mississippi, once they got to the high school. I have memories of how good they were, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t pay attention to most of my life at that age.)basketball

Back to the point:

It was amazing to work with each member of the cast; it was unforgettable sitting on the other side of the table in my new life as a Fellow. To have the privilege of watching Susan V. Booth work with this cast, playwright Meg Miroshnik, the design team; to watch a living montage of an ensemble come together to tell this story AND learn to play basketball… has been inspiring and knowledge-inducing. I’ve not just been learning in this experience, i’ve been growing. It’d be stupid not to…
